Sales photographs should reveal shape, true colour, use marks and the stable result of care.
Check first
- Use a neutral background and consistent white balance.
- Cover front, back, sides, base and all corners.
- Pair high-risk close-ups with location views.
- Avoid smoothing, reshaping and excessive sharpening.
Shop procedure
- Photograph the original condition.
- Repeat from the same camera positions after care.
- Keep honest close-ups of problem areas.
- Use captions to explain treatment and remaining marks.
Dim lighting can conceal defects; overexposure removes detail in pale grain. Neither supports a trustworthy long-term sales record.
