Plan protective boundaries around adjoining materials, crevices and the direction liquids could travel.
Check first
- Identify neighbouring hardware, edge paint, fabric and pale leather.
- Test protective materials for adhesive residue or surface lifting.
- Anticipate gaps that could admit product.
- Leave access to observe developing problems.
Working sequence
- Clean the protection's contact area.
- Use a low-tack method where suitable.
- Replace contaminated protection during work.
- Remove it slowly at a low angle.
Tape can lift ageing finishes and fragile edge paint. Use a non-adhesive barrier in those areas.
