Plan protective boundaries around adjoining materials, crevices and the direction liquids could travel.

Check first

  • Identify neighbouring hardware, edge paint, fabric and pale leather.
  • Test protective materials for adhesive residue or surface lifting.
  • Anticipate gaps that could admit product.
  • Leave access to observe developing problems.

Working sequence

  1. Clean the protection's contact area.
  2. Use a low-tack method where suitable.
  3. Replace contaminated protection during work.
  4. Remove it slowly at a low angle.

Tape can lift ageing finishes and fragile edge paint. Use a non-adhesive barrier in those areas.
