Light-coloured leather needs careful control of moisture, contact time and boundaries. Uneven treatment can leave areas too white, too dark or ringed by tide marks.
Before starting
- Assess the overall base colour in diffuse daylight.
- Use construction seams as natural treatment boundaries.
- Work on a small area at a time with a clean tool surface.
- Record the difference between wet and dry appearance.
Working sequence
- Test in an inconspicuous area.
- Apply a small amount of product.
- Remove residue evenly.
- Allow the surface to stabilise naturally before blending into the next section.
Do not keep rubbing to make one spot whiter. Stop immediately if the soiling is reducing but the leather's own colour is starting to come away.
