A wet colour in a cup is not a finished leather sample. Compare dry colour, sheen, transparency and the effect of the underlying material.
Check first
- Choose a representative, unworn reference area.
- Prepare samples on similar material.
- Observe the shift from wet to dry.
- Compare in daylight and under warm and cool lighting.
Working sequence
- Establish lightness and warm or cool balance.
- Make a thin-layer sample.
- Allow complete drying before correcting it.
- Only after approval proceed to an inconspicuous test on the item.
A close colour with the wrong sheen or opacity can still produce a conspicuous patch.
